The graduate school provides various kinds of scholarships to students. In particular, international students may receive a scholarship through special programs such as, ACES-KNU scholarship, BEST-KNU scholarship and the Tuition Exempted scholarship program. Qualified students are allowed to receive a scholarship covering either full or half of the tuition. In addition to this special scholarship, international students can also receive additional support through various assistantships.

-All freshmen

-GPA 3.5 or higher & 6 credits based on the previous term

-Exempted from paying 50% of the school's association fee

-Exempted frompaying 2/3 of the School association fee

(If the applicant is from a sister school of KNU, the applicant will be under the prevailing conditions (contract) during the announcement of acceptance to the school.)

All new incoming graduate school students can apply for this amount only for the first semester.

ACES-KNU

-Recommendation from the partner university's president.

-GPA 3.0 or higher for the undergraduate course.

-Language proficiency at least one of the followings (TOPIK Level 3, TOEFL 550, CBT 210, iBT 80, IELTS5.5, TEPS 550)

Tuition fee, insurance fee and housing are provided.

Students from partner universities

BEST-KNU

-GPA 3.0 or higher for the undergraduate course.

-Language proficiency is at least one of the following (TOPIK Level 3, TOEFL 550, CBT 210, iBT 80, IELTS5.5, TEPS 550)

-Recommendation from a future academic adviser

-Tuition fee is shouldered by KNU -Monthly stipend from the academic adviser

(Allowance for research assistants will be provided, and it can also be a substitute for living expenses.)

Before applying for this program, applicant must consult with an academic adviser in this University

     

Foreign graduate students may have 50% of the school's association fee exempted from their total tuition fee every semester.

All new foreign students can be the recipients because this scholarship will be in effect when they apply for Graduate School admission. However, current foreign graduate students must meet the following conditions:

     

3.0 or above GPA in the previous semester

At least 6 credits in the previous semester(based on the former term)

 

     

 

1. Purpose

This scholarship program is formally referred to as the Academic Counterparts Elite Scholarship. This program is a prestigious award, which will be offered to well-qualified graduates recommended by partner universities of Kangwon National University(KNU), who are aiming to study for higher degrees (Master/ Doctor) at KNU.

ACES is a part of KNU’s action plan to promote the international cooperation between partner universities throughout the world, and generally allocated to relatively new partners.

 

 

    

2. Qualifications and Requirements

Non-Korean nationals whose parents are non-Korean nationals

Non-Korean nationals who have completed the education courses abroad which correspond to the South Korean primary, secondary and tertiary education courses

Student with a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree and GPA 3.0 or higher for the undergraduate course.

Students who satisfy at least one of the following requirements

(TOPIK Level 3, TOEFL 550, CBT 210, iBT 80, IELTS5.5, TEPS 550, Recommendation from a future academic adviser)

If the applicant has TOPIK level 3 he/she has to acquire TOPIK level 4 or higher or English proficiency until submission of a dissertation written for the degree

In case of the students who are from English speaking countries, such as (America, Canada, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland) or applied for a department in the field of Arts or Sports, they don't have to submit the Language proficiency certificates.

* The department of Visual Culture and the department of Storytelling are in the field of Humanities & Social Sciences so, these departments are not included in the field of Art


 

 

3. Scholarship benefit

Tuition: Tuition fee will be exempted for all the awardees of this program.

Living Expenses: The dormitory fee will be provided by KNU.

Health Insurance Fee: The awardee will be provided with a health insurance fee by KNU

 

 

 

 4. The application procedure

The same as our admission process and admission guidelines. The only difference is, a prepared letter of recommendation from the President of the applicant’s home university. A screening committee of KNU staff will select the awardee from the students, recommended by partner university's President by reviewing their applications.

 

  

 

 5. Others

Duration of benefits : 4 semesters for the Master's course, 5 semesters for the Doctorial course and 8 semesters for the Combined(Master & Doctoral) course.

The scholarship will be awarded to the students who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher and earn a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester.

- Recommendation: Upon the request from KNU, the president of the partner university has the authority to recommend a candidate who may be qualified for ACES.

 

     

6. The number of recipients : 13 persons per year

Chuncheon Campus : 10 persons per year

Samcheok Campus : 3 persons per year

 

    

 

 

1. Purpose

BEST-KNU is an active support plan to host well-qualified foreign students aiming for an advanced research and academic degree from KNU.

 

    

 

2. Qualifications and Requirements

Non-Korean nationals whose parents are non-Korean nationals

Non-Korean nationals who have completed the education courses abroad which correspond to the South Korean primary, secondary and tertiary education courses

Student with a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree and GPA 3.0 or higher for the undergraduate course.

Monthly Stipend : A minimum of 200,000 Won per month and the dormitory fee will be provided by the academic adviser.

 

    
4. The application procedure

The same as our admission process and admission guidelines. The only difference is that applicants must consult with their future academic adviser in advance before applying. After acceptance from the adviser, he or she is required to submit the documents by registered mail to the professor. A screening committee of KNU staff will select the awardee from the students recommended by professors in KNU by reviewing their documents.

   

 

   
5. Others

Duration of benefits : 4 semesters for the Master's degree course, 5 semesters for the Doctorate course and 8 semesters for the Combined(Master's and Doctorate) course.
